Osprey: Official RSMT Supporter
Osprey is one of the world's leading makers of backpacks and in 2022 they became one of the official supporters of the Red Sea Mountain Trail and our sister project the Sinai Trail. Without any of the institutional funding available to other trails in the wider Middle East and a lack of good outdoor stores in the country until recently, Bedouin guides at Egypt's two long-distance trails have long struggled to source good, reliable outdoor equipment, relying mostly on donations from visiting hikers. Osprey have a giving-back, philanthropic arm whose focus is on protecting the world's wild places, making the outdoors a more socially-inclusive space & empowering communities working in the industry. Working towards these goals, they recently sent over 20 backpacks to Bedouin guides on Egypt's trails. Some of these were distributed to head guides from different tribes working on the Sinai Trail. Others have been given to head guides on the Red Sea Mountain Trail and more are on the way. These backpacks are already helping guides across both trails do their work with the best possible equipment and Osprey have committed to donating more when required. The Red Sea Mountain Trail and Sinai Trail would like to say a big thank you to Osprey for their support and for setting an example on giving back to the outdoors world in the best, most positive and empowering way.
