Virtual Thru Hike
With the outbreak of the COVID 19 panedmic and its spread around the world life changed for many of us in early 2020. As the globe went into lockdown the Red Sea Mountain Trail closed to ensure the isolated Bedouin communities who live around it would remain contact-free and as safe as possible. Nevertheless we did not want the trail to stop movin. Moving is in the DNA of who we are at the Red Sea Mountain Trail and wanted to find ways of keeping the trail alive in a difficult chapter of our history. We wanted its beauty and wisdom to transcend the barriers of a new, locked-down world, inspiring people in a difficult chapter. This virtual hike was our way of doing it: written and illustrated by our founder Ben Hoffler it shows every part of the trail as it would be walked and the proverbs, legends and surival skills of the Bedouin.
